President

Peter McCaffrey

Peter McCaffrey is the President of the Alberta Institute, an independent, libertarian-minded, public policy think tank that aims to advance personal freedom and choice in Alberta.

He regularly appears in a wide variety of local and nationwide media, and speaks on topics as diverse as municipal finance and transparency, liquor and drug laws, fiscal policy, taxi regulation, education reform, technology, and civil liberties.

Before founding the Alberta Institute, Peter worked in a number of senior roles at various think tanks in Canada, and as a political, business, and technology consultant internationally.

Megan McCaffrey

Megan McCaffrey is the Director of Operations at the Alberta Institute, an independent, libertarian-minded, public policy think tank that aims to advance personal freedom and choice in Alberta.

She has an extensive public policy background, working for several years in both the government and private sectors, with a particular expertise and focus on economic, energy, electricity, renewables, and environmental issues.

Alongside her Alberta Institute work, Megan also serves as the Executive Director of Common Sense Alberta, a non-profit dedicated to advocating on municipal issues, with groups based in cities across Alberta.

Director of Development

Alex McColl

Alex McColl is the Director of Development at the Alberta Institute, an independent, libertarian-minded, public policy think tank that aims to advance personal freedom and choice in Alberta.

He holds a Business degree from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Calgary School of Public Policy, where he wrote a capstone thesis on military procurement policy.

Prior to joining the Alberta Institute, Alex spent seven years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and has also worked and volunteered at several non-profit advocacy groups.

Josh Andrus

Josh Andrus is the Executive Director of Project Confederation at the Alberta Institute, an independent, libertarian-minded public policy think tank that aims to advance personal freedom and choice in Alberta.

He is a fourth-generation Albertan from Drumheller and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge, majoring in Economics and minoring in Political Science.

Prior to joining the Alberta Institute, Josh worked as the Executive Director for a grassroots advocacy organization and volunteered in several political and policy roles.
