Prime Minister Trudeau has just announced that Canada will be banning the import of Russian oil.
There's just one problem.
The ban only affects crude oil imports.
It does not include refined products like gasoline and diesel, or natural gas, which make up the majority of what Canada actually imports from Russia.
Classic.
We are incredibly proud to have been the first organization in Canada to call on the federal government to ban the importation of all oil and gas products from Russia and we'd like to thank every single one of the 15,000+ people who added their name to our call so far.
But let's not give up yet.
We need the federal government to expand the ban to include all oil and gas products.

Stand With Ukraine And Block Russian Oil
Russia has declared war on Ukraine, conducting an unprovoked, aggressive, and unjustified full-scale invasion against a peaceful democratic country, the likes of which have not been seen since World War II.
The Canadian government has announced sanctions against key Russian insiders and entities, as well as cancelling export permits to Russia.
But Prime Minister Trudeau has not yet done the one thing that the Canadian government could do that would actually have a significant impact on Russia, which is to halt imports - particularly of oil - from Russia.
Canada, and particularly western Canada, have a plentiful supply of our own oil, gas, and natural resources.
It was already questionable that we were importing these products from Russia in the first place.
But, now that Russia has declared war on one of Canada's friends and partners, it would be ludicrous to continue sending money to Russia.
Every barrel of oil we import from Russia helps fund their military attack on our friends in Ukraine.
Let's stop sending cash to Russia, block the importation of Russian oil, and buy Canadian oil, gas, and natural resources instead.
