2020 Internship Fund
$6,197.00 Raised
Goal: $8,000.00
2020 has been a tough year so far, yet we must always be optimistic.
Despite low oil prices, an overbearing federal government, a global pandemic, and now an economic recession, our important work promoting freedom, choice, free markets, and even basic civil liberties like freedom of assembly, privacy, and due process must go on.
In fact, in difficult times like these, having strong civil society organizations is even more vital than ever, which is why we are aiming to expand our operations over the coming months.
Now is the time to produce and promote new ideas to lead our province and country out of this crisis.
Now is the time to teach young people to think rationally, to understand economics, and to appreciate the importance of our values.
Now is the time to grow our movement and create the next generation of leaders.
You may have heard that the federal government is giving out a large number of grants to non-profits across the country to hire students for summer jobs.
No doubt all sorts of environmental and activist organizations have taken advantage of this money, meaning there will be even more terrible policy ideas we'll need to rebut in the coming months.
Of course, at the Alberta Institute, we don't believe you should be forced to pay taxes to fund organizations you don't agree with, which is why we have never and will never accept any government funding - including these grants.
Instead, we're asking for your voluntary support to help fund our 2020 Internship Program.
Each year, we work with incredibly talented young people who are studying a wide range of subjects, want to help improve the standard of public policy and public debate, and appreciate the experience they will receive from this hands-on opportunity.
Our internship program isn't your typical coffee-fetching administrative role, we expect our interns to conduct real public policy research, publish their findings, and work to make real change happen, and our past interns have a history of doing exactly that.
If you agree with our mission to advance personal freedom and choice in Alberta, wish to support the next generation of thinkers and (crucially in these difficult times) can afford to help, please consider making a donation to our 2020 Internship Fund.
With a mind to the ongoing pandemic, and the associated economic challenges, we have worked hard to cut the cost of our internship program almost in half compared to previous years.
This year, we will be able to hire an intern for the entire summer, to work on a wide variety of municipal, provincial, and federal ideas and campaigns, for just $8,000.
If you are one of those Albertans who are lucky enough to be in a secure financial position, please consider helping us out by making a contribution.
If you would prefer to donate via cheque, our mailing address is:
Alberta Institute
Suite 703 - 530 12 Ave SW
Calgary, AB, T2R0B1
If you're not in a position to make a larger contribution, would you instead consider signing up to make a smaller recurring monthly donation to provide the Alberta Institute with greater financial stability in the coming months?
Thank you to every last one of you for your ongoing support, whether that be through financial contributions, volunteering your time, spreading our ideas on social media, or any of the myriad other ways our thousands of supporters help us every day.
Regards,
Peter McCaffrey
