Christmas Wish List
As the Christmas season approaches, Albertans are busy making their wish lists and sharing in the joy of the holidays.
Well, I've been doing the same with our team.
Last week, I sat down with our project coordinators and asked them what we could do to help them have more impact and get more policy wins next year.
Together, we've identified some specific things that would be useful for our team members to find in their stockings on Christmas morning as they work to advocate for a stronger and freer Alberta.
So, if you're feeling generous, and want to help our team make even more of a difference in 2024, here's your chance to be our jolly ol’ elf and contribute directly to the initiatives that resonate most with you.
A New Printer - $200
It might sound silly, but our office printer is almost eight years old now, so while it's had a good run, the team is right - it's long due for replacement!
More Signage - $500
As we hold more and more events, we definitely need some new signs to help direct people to the right rooms/venues. We've had some days this year where we had more than one event happening, in different parts of the province, on the same night. So we just need more signs than we have right now. (One was also recently the victim of Calgary's worsening downtown crime spree!)
A Sound System - $1,500
We've all been to an event where the sound system isn't up to the job, and the speakers are too quiet to hear. Unfortunately, that's been our event a few times this year, so we need to fix that and make sure that everyone can hear our message loud and clear at ALL our events. The small speaker we have no longer reaches everyone in the larger sold-out rooms we're now filling, and it gets expensive to rent a sound system at every single event, so this present will actually save money in the long run!
Media Software - $2,500
By now I'm sure you've heard about the federal government's crack down on sharing news on social media, and while that's annoying for Albertans, it's a big problem for an organization like ours. We like to keep on top of the stories of the day, so that we have a good idea what people care about, and what issues we should be working on. But these laws make that way more difficult to do. There's a solution, in the form of media tracking software, but that - of course - costs money. We tested some new software recently, and we think it'll be worth it to help improve our communications.
Print Materials - $5,000
We've spent 2023 developing tonnes of new ideas and policy suggestions, and we've gotten really good at distributing those ideas by email and online. But one area we need to improve on is getting stuff in front of people in person. We'd like to print a few thousand copies of each of our best flyers and policy briefs, and hand them out in person at events, conferences, and by traditional physical mail, so we can reach Albertans all across the province.
A/V Equipment - $7,500
Be a part of our journey into the world of audio and video content! Contribute to help us get the cameras, microphones, editing software, and other equipment needed to launch our Alberta-focused podcast. Your support will help us broadcast our message to new audiences - something we've been wanting to do for a while, but haven't quite had the resources to do until now.
Hire An Intern - $10,000
Contribute to the development of future leaders and advocates for liberty by supporting our internship program. Our internship program has been running for years now, and we make sure our interns do real research work where they learn about our vision and how to effectively communicate it. Your generous donation will fund one student in our impactful internship initiative, providing valuable learning experiences for a talented young person.
Volunteer Coordinator - $25,000
Thousands of Albertans have signed up to offer to help us build a real movement across Alberta. What we need now is a part-time staff member to co-ordinate these thousands of enthusiastic and passionate volunteers. Your contribution will fund the essential role of a volunteer coordinator for the year, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and organization of volunteers for events, outreach, and other initiatives.
General Donation
Help us keep the lights on, pay the internet bill, do general research, and engage in advocacy to maximize freedom and prosperity in Alberta. We'll direct this money to all those other little monthly expenses, without which you can't run an effective organization.
