Why is the city spending so much money on all of the curb extensions? These are extras that are questionable in my mind. Is it really safe to have a pedestrian standing on a jut out? Projects like this need to be tossed while the province and city are struggling.

Can the council of this city not do anything except increase taxes at every opportunity and possible conversation they have? This mayor and majority of council must think that Calgary taxpayers have unlimited cash to pay for all the stupid special interest groups wasteful projects. Look after police, fire, and essential services, stop gouging for utilities and pandering to the “downtown crowd “

Is council really trying to bankrupt the citizens of Calgary? It sure appears that way!!!!! Even in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, with people dying everywhere, all this city council can do is figure out ways to take more money out of its mostly unemployed and senior citizens pockets. May they ALL be replaced at the soonest possible opportunity, without all the perks from taxpayers when they get their ass kicked out the door!!!

Stop the spending, increasing City staff, not listening to citizens, putting your heads in the sand. You represent the people of Calgary not the people of an self- entrenched council. Thousands are facing the worst year of their lives and you dump more council double talk on the soul of Calgary. You responsibility is to the people not pet projects, not multimillion dollar projects, not “leaving a legacy on the backs of the people to satisfy your own vane self-approval”. Tear down the wall of silence you have created around individual councillors and the mayor to not hear the voice of the people. Your actions are shameful, thousands unemployed, a closed eye to Covid-19 induced problems. Many will come out of the pandemic with psychological problems to which you the people’s council (?) say Pshaw tax them until they have no more. Right now you have succeeded they have no more to continue your fantasies. Do the right thing vote tax relieve and do not initial it as a credit to be repaid as a debit next year as you did several years ago and stop transferring property tax services to to ENMAX direct billing which is really a unforgivable means of increasing costs to home owners. Support the people!

This is so shameful. I am trying to grasp for words. What are these city i-d-i-o-t-s doing? Are they living in some bubble, or on different planet, or they speak different language than the rest of us. Don’t they see a crisis unfolding in front of them? Before COVID19 happened over 30% of downtown properties were vacant. After this crisis is over this will probably grow much much higher. Then WHAT? Who are they going to tax? People will not be able to afford the current payments, never mind another 7.5% tax hike. We the taxpayers should NOT allow this decision to stand. We all should REVOLT, and we all should go to this glass tower called Silly Hall, and pull all these “Olderman” and “Olderwomen” out of their office, together with their cushy chairs, and leave them in the cold on the sidewalk.

I am being really polite here. These people DO NOT govern for the citizens of Calgary. They are some kind of mafia organization, that will not allow even this mega-crisis go to waste. They ONLY look after themselves and their pockets. ENOUGH. Mr Farkas should be appointed as an interim major, or the province should appoint one until the next election. We have to force THE CHANGE. Shame, shame, shame!!!

Unfortunately voters won’t remember the 13 by the time the next election comes around and we will see most if not all of them in the council chairs again.

My residential property taxes continue to increase while I constantly read in media of how my money is wasted.

The City of Calgary should immediately discontinue the practice of granting a bonus equivalent to one year’s vacation to employees who have CHOSEN to retire. The City has indicated they must continue this practice or there could be legal implications – yet no City employees have this ‘benefit’ in their collective agreements with the exception of the Fire Department.

The City of Calgary should conduct a salary review for our Mayor – although we are not the largest city in Canada, our Mayor receives the largest salary of any mayor in Canada.

The City of Calgary should conduct a review of pension plans received by City employees. A number of City employees apparently qualify for 2 pension plans – and some even qualify for 3. Why do City employees get this when most of us may possibly receive 1 pension from our employer?

Councillor Joe Magliocca was recently in the news. He allegedly submitted expense reports with receipts for meals/beverages consumed while meeting with 10 different people, a number of whom noted they had not met with Councillor Magliocca – not to mention those who reported not only did they not meet with him – they have NEVER met him. This is fraud. Why has this not been investigated? Why is Councillor continuing in his position exactly as before – and, I might add, voting that my residential taxes be increased by 7.5% – perhaps to raise funds so he can continue to submit expense reports for meetings taken with people he has never met?

My residential taxes have gone up 50% in the last 10 years – is it coincidental that this was about when Mayor Naheed Nenshi first dame into office? I personally think Mayor Nenshi is one of the worst things to ever happen in this city. Perhaps instead of raising my taxes – AGAIN – the ridiculous spending stops and Administration takes a few classes in fiscal responsibility. If I ran my household the way Nenshi runs this city, we would have been out in the street years ago.
