With the Calgary economy the way it is any tax hike, whether it be to business or individuals, seems like cruel and unusual punishment. More and more of us are not making ends meet and are slowly sinking.

Time for City Hall to focus on priority ONLY spending, not wants and legacy projects (aka Nenshi).

Furthermore, its abusive of taking taxpayer’s money and emotional-spending it on unnecessary costly with little to NO ROI pet projects resulting in completely unacceptable threatening taxpayers to up residential tax’s OR ELSE further essential services cuts will be made, only BECAUSE of Municipalities ‘irregular’ spending behaviours.

Simple solution is to hold City Hall accountable = cut wards in 1/2 by restructuring areas.

Each of these wards have wants and NOTHING is moving forward with efficient use of time, attention or actions with everyone going in all directions and wasting abundance time arguing and consulting…

City Hall needs to streamline efficiencies and table ALL future projects for taxpayers to weigh-in with a online and or on site @ City Hall referendum of ALL open and transparent WANTS and NEEDS and PRIORITIES – in order of priority/need.

If there is ZERO business going on in downtown in Core, with business’s closing and fleeing Alberta, then why build costly LRT going to nowhere…

And, by time LRT IS finally constructed, we will all be no doubt OFF fossil-fuels and using electronic autonomous vehicles and working from home autonomously, with ZERO need to BE downtown.

This is not the time to continue increasing taxes. An easy one – stop with the double pensions. Everyone else has had to make do with cuts. So should you.

Stop unnecessary spending! Spend like it’s actually coming out of your own wallet.

First..there should NOT be a tax hike!

But business tax has doubled in the last 5 years,

so there SHOULD be a Tax shift to residential to show people how “out of control” spending has been and still is at City Hall!

I pay about 7% of my income to the City as property tax, and every year the tax is rising! Now note that this mandatory expense is not federal or provincial tax deductible, which means that I pay tax to the governments for the income that I don’t factually enjoy. The City does not care how many people are living in the household, or if they are retired, or what their income is, or if they are currently employed at all, and it forces retired people to downsize because they cannot afford paying this ever-rising property tax.

With crime on the rise & the city expanding; cutting anything from the police & fire departments budgets is insane. Increase is more logical.
